Company Check and Verification

Before a company is given access to the acquisition platform, it is checked by us for CoC registration, licenses and general conditions. Each affiliated company page clearly states what we have checked a company for. Always check the company yourself in our business directory to see what certifications the company has. In addition, go through the checklist for doing business safely on Transportscanner. It is your responsibility as a customer to always do this check before engaging with a company. We verify companies on the following criteria:

1. Official companies

We work only with companies. Private individuals cannot join us. A CoC registration is required. All carriers on our platform are companies with a Chamber of Commerce number or similar foreign registration number.

2. Licenses and registrations

Companies must have the appropriate papers to be allowed to carry out transport. Once a company has been checked and verified by us, this blue check mark appears behind the name of that company in the business directory. The business page of a verified company then displays the various permits the company has. Among other things, we check businesses for the following permits:

  • Euro permit: permit required for road transporters with a load capacity over 500kg. It is a requirement for almost every transport and for every transporter. Consider, for example, the transportation of a car, but also a simple relocation. In almost every case, we recommend choosing a transporter
  • VIHB registration: registration required for transporting commercial or hazardous waste.
  • ADR certificate: required to transport hazardous materials within Europe.
  • CEMT permit: permit for transportation for the 44 countries that are members of CEMT.
  • TLN hallmark: hallmark of the Transport and Logistics trade association.

3. The Transportation Code of Conduct

Companies affiliated with our platform must adhere to our Code of Conduct. In it, we have included what we expect from companies. While we try to hold companies to this as best we can, we advise customers to also check carefully for themselves who they are doing business with. To do so, read our article on secure business on Transport Scanner. Transportation companies affiliated with Transportscanner must at all times:

  • To be certified and insured for the jobs they take on
  • Act fairly and courteously
  • Keep appointments made
  • Clearly communicate their terms and conditions

4. Expertise & Experience

The company's specialties are also considered. Experience also counts. This does not mean that you necessarily have to have been in business for decades. Even young companies can be very experienced and knowledgeable in their field.

We direct companies to take on work that is entirely within their area of expertise. In this way, we keep the quality of the work performed high. In addition, this promotes fair competition. We strive to serve every company equally with sufficient transportation jobs. To ensure quality, we regularly request references from company customers.

5. Consumer Protection

We require each member company to clearly communicate its terms and conditions to the customer. This includes at least general, payment and warranty terms. Note! Here there is also a responsibility on the client who places and transport request on the platform. Always ask for the conditions of the executing company and check the permits. We require that companies also state their terms and conditions, in language comprehensible to consumers, on their website or their transport scanner company page. If you have any doubts about the conditions surrounding assignment, payment, insurance or anything else, always contact us at info@transportscanner.nl.

Tip: Preferably, a company works with the AVC 2002 transport conditions (and for international transport with the CMR conditions). These are industry-drafted terms and conditions that properly protect all parties involved.

6. Additional criteria

The following are complementary. These can contribute to the assessment:

  • The company is a member of one or more industry associations.
  • The company has a seal of approval.
  • The company works closely with an already affiliated Transportation Scanner company.
  • The company is recommended by an already affiliated Transportation Scanner company.
  • The company has good references and/or reviews

Always perform another check yourself

We always direct companies to perform only transports within their area of expertise. We remove companies that do not comply with this from our platform. Despite these precautions, it is important to ALWAYS perform the following check yourself:

  • Look up the company in the business directory.
  • Check that the company has the proper permits.
  • Preferably, always choose a company that has been verified by us.

Despite a thorough check from our side, you may have a negative experience with a company from Transportscanner. In this case, please contact us. We can call the company to account. If a company does not act according to the standards and values of Transportscanner, we will deny the company access to our platform.
