A few parties active in the transportation industry are briefly explained below. Consider government agencies, interest groups or industry associations.

NIWO

NIWO logoNIWO stands for National and International Road Transport Organization. This is the Dutch licensing authority for international road transport. This organization falls under the minister of infrastructure and waterways. Their primary task consists of granting, checking and extending permits and authorizations. These include the Euro permit, CEMT permit, trip authorizations and VIHB registration. You can check the various permits of transport companies on the NIWO website.

Evofenedex

This is an association for companies in the logistics industry. Where TLN is mainly there for the carriers, Evofenedex is there for the shippers. The shipping side of the logistics chain, in other words. Evofenedex can help companies in the logistics sector with many different topics. Think of laws and regulations, paperwork and process optimization. They can also help with information, advice, training and legal issues. They have an extensive website with very valuable information.

TLN - Transport and Logistics Netherlands

Business association for the transport and logistics sector. The association represents the interests of its 5,000 members. They offer online and offline information and knowledge and connect entrepreneurs. In addition, TLN offers its members a responsible collective bargaining agreement. As a member of TLN you benefit from purchasing advantages and special conditions at suppliers, due to their purchasing advantage. They also offer training. They have their own hallmark (the Transport & Logistics Hallmark).

Transportation Address Foundation (SVA).

The Stichting Vervoersadres (SVA) is best known as the administrator of the most important transport conditions in the industry: the AVC 2002, or General Transport Conditions. These conditions are applied by many carriers to their agreements with customers. This gives both client and contractor certainty. On the SVA website you can download free conditions. These are also completely free to use. Besides these general transport conditions, as a specialist transport company you can also download conditions for your specific submarket.

The SVA focuses mostly on the legal aspects of transportation. It acts as an objective representative of the transportation industry.

Other organizations

VERN - Vereniging Eigen Rijders Nederland: Trade organization for the small transport entrepreneur. VERN was founded partly to offer the small and vulnerable transport entrepreneur an equal competitive position compared to the larger transport companies. Not only self-employed drivers, but also entrepreneurs with 10 to 15 trucks are affiliated with VERN. They offer help with claims and serve the interests of the small transport entrepreneur.

TKI DINALOG: TKI Dinalog is the top consortium knowledge and innovation in which companies, knowledge institutions and government work on the innovation program of the Top Sector Logistics. TKI Dinalog supports public-private cooperation by matchmaking parties, supporting consortium formation, strategic agenda setting, and preparation of research programs. In addition, TKI Dinalog ensures the transfer of project results so that they find their way to market application. Many of the results can be found on the website.

FENEX: trade association for the freight forwarding sector (forwarders). FENEX represents the interests of Dutch freight forwarders. This organization has 950+ member forwarders.
