What does scooter transport cost?

Transporting a scooter within the Netherlands costs between 75 and 250 euros. Transporting your scooter internationally can be considerably more expensive. If the scooter fits in a van, this will usually not cost more than 500 euros within Western Europe.

Scooter transport is cheaper than motorcycle transport. A scooter is a lot lighter and easier to transport. Moreover, a scooter can usually fit into a normal trailer without too much complicated attachment. Here are some examples.

Easy and fast

Sometimes you need to have your scooter transported. For example, when the scooter no longer runs but needs to go to the garage. Or consider buying a new scooter that you bought far away.

The most common ways to transport a scooter are on a trailer or in a van.

Transporting scooter in a van (VIDEO)

Whether you want to take your scooter with you on vacation, or to take your broken scooter to the garage, it is possible to transport a scooter safely. This can of course be done with a van or van.

Scooter in a van or on a trailer
Scooters are usually not very heavy, so in terms of payload, you're already well off with a smaller van.

The first step is to load your scooter into your van. You can drive a scooter into a van with a designated driving plate. You can buy this plate, or borrow or rent it from somewhere. Getting the scooter into the van can be quite a chore. Provide a sturdy and wide (scaffolding) board that cannot move. Drive the scooter into the bus. Do this preferably with at least two people. It is strongly advised not to have the engine on and to accelerate: the scooter will usually go faster than you, which can lead to accidents. Do NOT try to enter the bus with the scooter.

The next step is to properly secure your scooter with straps, belts or ropes to prevent it from sliding in the van. This will prevent your vehicle from getting damaged or causing accidents. Vans almost always have attachment points where you can secure the scooter with straps. To keep the scooter from getting scratched, you can first pull a cover, blanket or something similar over the scooter before securing it.

You can rent a van yourself, often for under 50 euros for a half-day trip. However, always consult with the rental company you will be transporting a scooter. For safety reasons, we also recommend that you make sure the scooter does not have a full tank. Many rental companies do impose a minimum age and/or years of driving experience for renting a bus.

Alternatively, you can approach a transportation company to move the scooter for you. You will be slightly more expensive, but you will be saved some trouble and you can be sure that everything will arrive fully intact. You can also place a quote request in 3 minutes and receive multiple quotes.

Transporting scooter in a trailer

It is also quite possible to transport a scooter with a trailer or trailer behind the car. If you have a trailer, you can put the scooter on the trailer and drive it to the destination. For transporting a scooter on a trailer or a car, we have the following tips:

Tip #1: The scooter should be secured with ropes or straps to prevent it from shifting.

Tip 2: Make sure the scooter is firmly positioned. Test this by hand before riding.

Tip 3: Secure the scooter with the straps both lengthwise and widthwise.

Having a scooter transported

It is also possible to have your scooter transported. For this, you can use a transport company. This is a convenient option because they know exactly how to transport your scooter safely. Of course, having a scooter transported also costs money. But it's worth it if you need to go somewhere with your scooter and don't have the time or ability to drive there yourself.
