The transportation price depends mainly on the size of the engine, the total weight and the total distance. If an engine with a larger tr ansport can come along, it is usually a lot cheaper than if the carrier has to make a trip just for your motorcycle. When transporting a motorcycle in a van, there are some important tips to keep in mind to ensure the safety of both the motorcycle and the driver:
- Clear enough space: Make sure the van has enough space to transport the engine safely and without damage. If necessary, remove other objects from the van to ensure that the engine is sturdy and stable.
- Use a ramp: Using a ramp makes loading and unloading the motorcycle much easier and safer. Make sure the ramp is sturdy and stable before driving the motorcycle into the van.

- Permits for motor transport. Professional transportation of a vehicle on a trailer within Europe requires a permit from the NIWO. Within the Netherlands a Euro permit is required, but internationally an addition to the Euro permit will be needed. In most cases a so-called CEMT permit suffice.
- Insurance. Check that the transportation company has a solid transportation liability insurance policy and that the cargo is properly insured.
- Packing and protection. Agree with the carrier who will take care of loading and unloading and that the load is well protected. Should it be a very special motorcycle, there are also special companies with enclosed trailers for exclusive vehicles.
