Distribution
Distribution is the distribution of goods and products to end users. Proper distribution allows companies to reach the maximum number of potential customers, thereby increasing sales. Distribution is necessary after companies have produced a product. Products must be transported from the place of production, through a warehouse or storage facility, to a retail store or store
Product distribution is the process of making products available for use or consumption.
The Netherlands is a small but densely populated country in Europe. The Netherlands has a very good transportation infrastructure, which includes an extensive network of roads, railroads and waterways. This makes it easy to distribute goods and products throughout the country.
The main types of distribution in the Netherlands are as follows:
- Retail distribution: This is the distribution of goods to individual consumers through retail outlets.
- Wholesale distribution: This is the distribution of goods to retailers or other businesses.
- Direct marketing: This is the sale of products directly to consumers through an online store, television shopping programs or other direct channels.
- Manufacturing distribution: distribution of goods within a company. This deals with the parts needed in a supply chain. A good example of this type of distribution is a car manufacturer, which buys parts from smaller suppliers to produce cars.
Distribution Center
A distribution center, or DC, is a facility used by companies to centrally store and distribute products to retailers or other businesses. This can be done through wholesale distribution or direct marketing. The DC can also serve as a production distribution center, meaning it distributes goods to companies within the supply chain. In 2020, there were 2455 distribution centers in the Netherlands(Source: NVM).
